Performing June 12-14 & 18-21 | Het Amsterdams Theaterhuis

Spring Awakening is a bold, raw, and deeply moving musical that explores the journey from adolescence to adulthood. Set in a repressive society where young people are denied honest conversations about sex, identity, and self-expression, the story follows a group of teenagers as they navigate first love, friendship, confusion, and rebellion. With a powerful contemporary rock score and emotionally charged storytelling, Spring Awakening gives voice to youth discovering who they are—and what it costs to grow up in silence.

HEA’s production will take place June 12-14 and 18-21, 2026 at Het Amsterdams Theaterhuis. The show is performed in English.

We have two casts for Spring Awakening. Please find all performance details below and scroll down to see who is in the “Purple Summer” and “Blue Night” casts.

There is a special matinee on Friday 19 June which will be followed by a Q&A session with some of the cast and production team. Secondary schools are encouraged to bring their older students to this contemporary musical based on the late 19th century play by Frank Wedekind, as its still very relevant subjects stongly resonate with them and can encourage much thoughtful discussion.

Please note: Spring Awakening contains strong language, mature and challenging subjects. While we endeavor to handle these with the utmost care, there are scenes that may be uncomfortable or overwhelming for some.

This production is recommended for audiences aged 14 and older. Parents and guardians are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the show’s themes to determine its suitability for younger viewers.

  • Tomi Richter

Melchior Gabor | Cast Blue Night

Over the following years, he studied singing, acting, and dance, performing both solo and ensemble material from productions such as Cats, Hair, Grease, Fame, Chicago, Somewhere in Europe, and The Attic.
Alongside his stage work, Tomi trained and worked as a voice actor, lending his voice to the Hungarian dubbing of numerous films and television series.
After moving to the Netherlands in 2018 to study Creative Business, he was forced to step away from the limelight for a while. Still, he continued to develop his voice, dreaming of one day joining a company of talented performers and creating something special together.

  • Sebastian Nitu

Moritz Stiefel | Cast Purple Summer

Sebastian loves discovering the little quirks that bring a character to life. He has appeared in previous shows by Happily Ever After Productions, including Avenue Q and Shrek the Musical.

  • Keerthi Sridharan

In days long past they've relished playing Angel in Rent and Abuela Claudia in In the Heights, but their creative energies have since been channeled through their music and their love for TTRPGs. Keerthi is Tamil by blood and has lived in the Netherlands for 8 years and counting. In between sourdough starter feedings and sci-fi novels, Keerthi is in the fourth year of their PhD, researching historical videogames.

Off-stage, they work in media and advertising for a sports company because, you know, someone has to balance spreadsheets with show tunes. Next up: Spring Awakening.
That being said, they make no promises about avoiding dad jokes, but they do promise to get endlessly excited about dogs if you bring it up.

  • Leana van de Meent

With her fascination for social structures, norms, and the relationships that form within them, Spring Awakening is an especially exciting show for her to step into and experience from the inside out.

  • Alicia Martin Sanhueza

When not writing gossip about dead ancient royalty or performing on stage, he's in the audience supporting his mother and sister, both of whom act as well. Spring Awakening will be his fourth musical.

Ernst Röbel (Reinhold) | Cast Blue Night

Mateo decided it was time to start performing again after taking a small break during their time at university. • Ramona Harrison

Otto Lämmermeier (Ulbrecht) | Cast Purple Summer

In primary school, her theatre teacher called her a "serial improviser". She took this back handed compliment and, 20 years later, turned it into a comedy career; notably with Easylaughs. She has also performed, among others, as Alan Turing in "Breaking The Code" and Beleaguered Geek in "Heathers".
Ramona traded The UK for Utrecht 8 years ago. She appreciates the opportunity to balance the improv she does professionally by engaging with the heavier topics of Spring Awakening.

  • Tom Rijnders

Otto Lämmermeier (Ulbrecht) | Cast Blue Night

The first time Tom performed on stage was as one of the leads in his 6th-grade musical, before taking a long break from theater. Now nearing the end of his academic journey in International Business, he has spent years admiring musicals from the audience and longing for the stage, until a well-timed TikTok of HEA's Heathers presented him with an opportunity.

Mesmerized by the production, he experienced a stroke of inspiration (and severe lack of self-control), applying for his first musical theater bootcamp on the train home that same evening. Since then, he has been "livin' it up on top," joining two bootcamps where he performed as Orpheus and Alexander Hamilton. Tom is "not throwing away his shot" as he moves on from the bootcamps, and is thrilled to make his full-scale musical theater debut as Otto in Spring Awakening.

Since then he has played in several productions, some highlights including Tom Collins in Rent and Munkustrap in Cats. He has studied musical theatre at the Musical Factory in Tilburg and can often be found dancing at his favourite spot in Amsterdam, Amsterdam dance center.

  • Iulian (Julian) Pinzaru Stanescu

Robert (Gaston) | Cast Blue Night

Julian studied architecture, but calling himself just an architect has never felt completely right. He designs, yes, but what he really cares about is telling stories. Sometimes through spaces, sometimes through objects, sometimes through images. He is interested in how ideas take shape and how people move through them.

He grew up surrounded by music. Both of his parents are musicians, so rehearsals and instruments were simply part of daily life. Music was never something he picked up along the way. It was always there.

Eventually, the design world became his profession, and he committed to it. But music never stopped mattering. Joining theatre now feels less like a reinvention and more like allowing a different part of himself to take up space again.

  • Francesca Boi

Frau Bergman / Frau Bessell / Fraulein Grossebusten-Halter | Cast Purple Summer

She has also appeared in web series and short films such as La Storia Infinita and Dante's Inferno – Guinevere's Testament, the latter of which she also directed.

Beyond acting, she has a background in music, dance, and various sports including archery and skiing.

  • Amy Nelson

Frau Bergman / Frau Bessell / Fraulein Grossebusten-Halter | Cast Blue Night

With a rich background and professional career in classical and jazz music, Amy rediscovered her passion for acting and musical theatre through HEA’s Legally Blonde bootcamp in October 2024, where she charmed audiences as the lovable Paulette. Soon after, she took to the stage at HEA’s Miscast Talent Show, delivering a heartfelt rendition of Paulette’s ballad, Ireland, in a performance that captured the spirit of the bootcamp. Energised and inspired, Amy leapt straight into another HEA bootcamp in early 2025 - Chicago! - where she sparkled (literally!) as Roxie Hart in Funny Honey. Eager to dive deeper into the world of theatre, she brought enthusiasm and attention to detail backstage, joining the team as Stage Manager for Heathers in the summer and autumn of 2025. After that, eager to get back on the stage, she took part in another HEA bootcamp, and enjoyed playing the role as Persephone in Hadestown, performing Our Lady of the Underground.

After university, life took her to live and work in 8 different countries, and everywhere she lived, she found her way towards music. She has been involved in all sorts of acapella groups, symphonic choirs, gospel choirs, bands and more. Most recently, she made it to the finals of Zing! with the SoulSisters. Letizia is extremely honored to be a part of the Spring Awakening cast and to be working with such a talented team!"

In the Netherlands, she explored musical theater through workshops at Act Attack and Cauldron, which led to her joining HEA’s Chicago Revival as Hunyak and dance captain. In spring 2024, she brought magic to HEA’s Cinderella as an ensemble member, featured dancer, and co-dance captain, and last fall, she was last seen as Cassie Ferguson in HEA’s A Chorus Line. Recently worked on choreography for Heathers Musical as long as Hadestown and Hamilton Bootcamps with HEA.
